Why Choose Cranial Osteopathy?
Many patients today are turning to osteopathic physicians as their health care provider of choice. They recognize that a DO offers a variety of non-invasive healing treatments not available from allopathic (conventional) doctors. Long before it was fashionable, DOs advised their patients that the “best drugs” are contained within the body itself.
Cranial Osteopathy is a comprehensive system of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for the prevention and treatment of disease within the practice of the science of osteopathy. Physicians who practice Cranial Osteopathy recognize that primary respiration guides the function of every cell of the body. The Primary Respiratory Mechanism is not restricted to the cranium, spinal cord, dura and sacrum. Osteopathic physicians do not separate the body into individual parts, but treat the body as a whole. When working on any one part, the physician is in contact with all parts. For this reason, the depth of knowledge acquired with a comprehensive medical education is essential when treating with Cranial Osteopathy.
Doctors of Osteopathy (DOs, also known as Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine) are fully trained physicians, licensed to practice the entire range and scope of medicine and surgery. Osteopathic physicians have the ability to provide hands-on treatment within the context of a complete medical perspective.
Physicians (DOs and MDs), dentists (DDSs and DMDs) and qualified international DOs and MDs - trained in the cranial concept may be eligible for membership in The Cranial Academy. They may apply the cranial concept within the accepted standards of their individual practices. See Requirements For Membership.
To insure that you receive appropriate treatment, ask your physician if he or she is a member of The Cranial Academy.
